Concerto of Korinthos: The Athens State Orchestra in Chiliomodi
A remarkable evening of symphonic music at the Chiliomodi “Irene Papas” Theater
On Friday, 17 July 2026, the Chiliomodi “Irene Papas” Theater welcomes the Athens State Orchestra for a special evening of symphonic music, with free admission for the public.
With 60 musicians on stage, the Athens State Orchestra presents the world premiere of the “Concerto of Korinthos” by Cuban composer Leo Brouwer — a work directly connected to the region, bringing Corinth into focus through the language of music.
The concert features Dimitrios Soukaras, the internationally acclaimed guitarist from Corinth, whose participation gives the evening a distinct local significance. Through this important musical collaboration, an artist with an international career returns to his place of origin.
The programme also includes Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World”, one of the most celebrated works in the symphonic repertoire.
The event highlights Chiliomodi as an active cultural point within the Municipality of Corinth and invites residents and visitors to discover another side of the region through an evening of outstanding musical quality at the “Irene Papas” Theater.
